Cops ‘N Kids Program

The purpose of the Cops 'N Kids Program is to assure that every child has access to books and the  knowledge, inspiration, and hope that such an access can provide. Quota provides to those law enforcement officers who wish to participate, books to be distributed to children while the officers are on normal patrol. This would provide to children in neighborhoods where violence and fear are often everyday occurrences a positive view of our police.  It will help to eliminate the apprehension that generally accompanies the appearance of a police car in these neighborhoods. The founder and director of Cops 'N Kids, Inc. is Julia Burney, a veteran of the City of Racine, WI Police Department.  During her 17 years as a police officer, Julia saw first hand what happens to children that do not have access to books.  They were denied the hope that literacy brings.  So Julia began handing out books carried in her police car to children in the areas she patrolled.  Soon the children began looking for her patrol car and approached her in friendship rather than fear. Our Salisbury Club currently has 7 Quota Reading Corners which provide disadvantaged children books to read and we also provide books for the children to take home.  To make a donation of children's books you can contact us using the form below.  For any additional information about this program contact us here.
